The Seed of Love

The New Testament talks about something living in you. It’s called, “God in you”, “Christ in you”, “the Spirit in you”, “the living water in you”, “the kingdom in you”, “the seed in you”.

These are not a lot of separate things inside of us. They are onething. These are all things that pertain to God. It is Him living within us. It’s the seed of LOVE.

The seed of LOVE was planted with the greatest act of love ever demonstrated: the Son of God dying for mankind. He initiated a new and living way for us that would ultimately change the world.

The Bible says that God’s love has been placed in us by the Holy Spirit. Isaiah 9:7 says that of the increase of His government and of peace, there will be no end. Jesus said something like this when He said, the seed, though it begins small, becomes a large tree where all the birds of the air can find rest.

The seed of LOVE is something that grows in our hearts as we acknowledge it. We find ourselves believing more in grace and mercy and all the things that pertain to LOVE. It changes the way we think. It changes the way we relate to ourselves as well as other people. It causes us to fall deeply in love with our heavenly Father. It produces fruit to appear in our lives, like peace, joy, patience. LOVE is the power that makes human hearts whole.

The seed of LOVE will continue to grow and it will affect the world culturally. Where we once trusted in moralism, now we are trusting in LOVE. Love is perfection whereas moralism is imperfection. Moralism doesn’t get the job done. It has too many bad side effects. While it stands for good over evil, it makes that stand at the cost of judgementalism, separatism, elitism, and overrides empathy and compassion. It puts itself above people, the very object of God’s love. Moralism collapses under its own weight.

This is where grace comes in. Grace provides restorative power whereas moralism does not. Love brings healing where moralism brings judgment. Mercy endures forever whereas moralism becomes impatient.

The seed of LOVE will never stop growing. And LOVE will ultimately fill the earth as the water covers the sea. This is God’s vision and eternal purpose and that’s why LOVE will outlast every battle for right and wrong. It will certainly outlast the knowledge of good and evil.

When all else has failed, LOVE will remain. Isn’t it exciting to see the fruit of this seed appear in our lives? I love to celebrate when I see I am more patient than I once was. I celebrate when I can give grace automatically where I once gave judgment. I rejoice when I recognize empathy toward another when once I would’ve condemned. Yes, the seed is growing. It is growing in us as individuals and it will continue to grow across the world.

LOVE never fails. We live here with hope, faith and love. And the greatest of these is LOVE.
