You’re Looking Good in the Mirror

The truth shall make you free. Jesus is the truth (about God, and about you).

He shows us the Father, because He is like the Father, one with the Father. He shows us our true selves, because we are in the likeness of Him, and one with Him.

If, as the Bible says, the works were finished from the foundation of the world, then WE were finished from the foundation of the world. That’s also why it says that we were chosen in Him BEFORE the foundation of the world.

Jesus is our open invitation to look at the finished work of us. He is the mirror of what God truly created when we were marvelously made.

“I thank you, God, for making me so mysteriously complex! Everything you do is marvelously breathtaking. It simply amazes me to think about it! How thoroughly you know me, Lord!” – Psalms 139:14 TPT

Humans were created on the sixth day, after that is rest. We were created to live in God’s rest. When we can see our own finished work in Christ, we can rest from our striving to become something else. Adam and Eve missed the mark when they tried to become something. They had already been made in the likeness and image of God.

When Peter walks on water, he is mirroring the Jesus he is looking at. When he doesn’t look at the “mirror”, he falters. What a clear picture! Jesus invites Peter to come and see what his finished work looks like. Jesus is our invitation also.

2 Corinthians 3 shows us that we live like Moses, who had a veil over his face, but when we turn to the Lord, the veil is removed and it’s like looking in a mirror. When we look in our mirror, we see God’s glory. Finished work!

Colossians 3 says that our life is hidden with Christ in God. Our true selves are not seen until we see ourselves in Him (the mirror). It then says that when is revealed, we are also revealed with Him in glory. We are glorified now. We see that when we realize that John 4:17 is true. “As He is, so are we now in this world.”

When the Lord is seen, Jacob becomes Israel. Simon becomes Peter. Saul becomes Paul, and we become what we already are, the bride without spot or blemish. Glorification is no longer something to strive for, but we see that it is our authentic reality, even though we dwell in the full experience of humanity.

“…whom He justified, these He also glorified.” – Romans 8:30

Jesus is the picture of our true selves! He came to show us who we are, where we are from, where we are going, and He shows us that God is with us now. We are so safe, so cared for, so loved. What can separate us from the love of God?

The gospel is beautiful. We love to share it, and we hope this is a note that will make your day bright. Have a great day, child of God!
