God’s Kids
“Turn the other cheek.” “If they want your tunic, give them your cloak also.” “Go the extra mile.” “Give to whoever asks of you.” “Love your enemies.” “Bless those who curse you.” “Do good to those who hate you.” “Pray for those who persecute you.” “Forgive everyone.”
Jesus said that this is what children of God look like (Matthew 5:45). No wonder the Bible says that the whole creation is looking for the manifestation of the children of God! What a world this will be!
I think of Jesus, falsely accused, hated, beaten, stripped and shamed, mocked and laughed at. The cross was the greatest test of His sonship. As He endured such hostility of wicked men against Him, He stayed true. He remained Jesus. He didn’t declare that those men were not worthy of salvation. He didn’t repent of His Love by saying, “To hell with them all.” In all of their faithlessness, Jesus remained faithful. He did not deny Himself. It didn’t change Him. He drew a breath and spoke the most hauntingly beautiful and powerful words that now ring in my mind often: “Forgive them.”
The Son of God manifested. He took us into Himself. True humanity united with God. That divine nature, beginning like a seed, working in us to fill our all, as our Holy Spirit produces the Love, joy, and peace that the world craves.
We are recognized as God’s children by that Love. What a wonderful thought. What an assurance that all will be well. What a glorious vision, the whole earth filled with the knowledge of God’s goodness.
Friend, every act of goodness makes the world a little better and brighter. This very thought makes us excited to be a part of the kingdom of Heaven.
Have a great day!
