The Everyday Presence of God

The idea of a God who is a separate, aloof, solitary being is done away with in Christ. Jesus reveals a Father to us, a Father that He has always known, a Father that has always been loving and in love. Separation between God and man is a big lie. If we believe that lie, we suffer from the feelings of separation (of an existence not connected to God).

Most religions of the world strive to make a connection with God, but Jesus reveals there is no reason for striving because our union with God is a simple fact. There is no place we can go to be apart from God, for He encompasses all things.

The temple in Jerusalem was destroyed after the ascension of Jesus, demolishing the picture of a separating veil between God and man and between heaven and earth. That temple no longer exists. In fact, its destruction actually began at the death of Jesus on the cross, when the veil between the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies was ripped from top to bottom.

We now have a temple of union where God is in us and we are in God. We know this because when we turn to look at Christ, the veil is removed and we are just face to face with the glory of the Father, just as the living Word Himself has been face to face with the Father for all eternity.

There is nothing like the revelation of Jesus Christ. If we dare to let His life speak to us, we will find the kind of unconditional love that our souls have always longed for. We will find the internal “rightness”, the harmony and realignment that comes from knowing our oneness with our Father.

As Isaiah said, The work of this kind of righteousness is peace and the effect of righteousness is confidence and assurance perpetually. Jesus brings us all together, together with God, at peace with ourselves, in love with those around us. Jesus has revealed the truth that truly makes us free and we are filled with joy because we are free indeed.

To be aware of our union with God reveals the everyday presence of God in our lives. And we are never alone, never without hope, never without comfort. What a wonderful existence!

We pray that today you would enjoy being close to God. Have a great day!
